Hannah's Hair Care tips.
1. Don't chemically relax just for the sake of it. I have never relaxed my hair, I have used GHDs for the last 7/8 years. I couldn't live without them. Usually using them once a week is enough unless you are going somewhere special and you want to create a particular style or look. Never over heat/ over straighten your hair.
2. Only wash your hair when it is dirty! Too much washing takes all your natural oils out of your hair. I wash mine every 2-3 weeks. Use good products. I have recently discovered an amazing shampoo and leave in conditioner that I wish was around years ago! They are made by Kera Care especially for natural hair:
Step 1 shampoo - Kera Care Natural Textures Cleansing Cream Moisturising Curl Wash 227g (8oz) Step 2 condition - Kera Care Natural Textures Leave In Conditioner 240ml (8 fl. oz.). Your hair will feel amazingly soft and moisturised when you blow dry it after using the leave in conditioner!
3.Use oil based styling products especially if your hair is natural. Check the ingredients! If aqua/ water is first or high in the list that product is going to frizz your hair rather than smooth an nourish. I find hair polish and shine sprays work well for me as some heavier products make hair greasy and stiff and hair should be light and have movement.
4. Don't be scared to have a trim! Find someone you trust and have a regular trim. Only in the last year have I broken my no cutting rule! A trim or 'pointing' as the lady that cuts my hair calls it only needs to take off 1 - 2 cm maximum from any uneven ends. One side of my hair grows quicker than the other so pointing the ends every 8 - 10 weeks ensures an even length all round as well as making hair look and feel healthier!
